1. What is the difference between Health Kinesiology and other types of Kinesiology?
This is a tough question to answer, but here are a few of the techniques and qualities that are unique to HK:
  • HK uses Meridian Energy Balancing to quickly balance the body before any other testing begins, so that the answers received from the body are accurate because they are coming from a balanced system. HK generally works on over-energy, and at the element level rather than with individual muscles or meridians.

  • HK uses one muscle to represent the entire energy system. HK students are taught how to test a variety of muscles, but only one at a time is needed.
  • HK is based on a comprehensive theoretical framework. Dr. Scott's energy models help to explain what the Practitioner is doing and why. HK corrects specific imbalances in a person's energy system or environment, allowing the body to then heal itself.
  • HK teaches its students an extensive and systematic verbal protocol to determine exactly what the body needs. The HK Practitioner is therefore not limited by the number of known finger modes, but can easily get to the root of the body's own priority system by asking specific questions of the body.
  • HK provides an extensive menu of techniques and procedures. These are like building blocks which can be combined in endless permutations, allowing each session to be tailored precisely to the needs of each client.
  • HK is limitless and responds to the imagination, experience and creativity of the Practitioner.
  • HK does not have specific procedures for specific problems. The full menu is offered to the energy system regardless of what the problem is. This discussion is based on Jane Thurnell-Read's article, originally published in the Kinesiology Federation newsletter, England.

Jane Thurnell-Read began studying kinesiology four years before she found HK.
