Skype is a free program.
With Skype you can call, for free, anyone else
in the world who also has Skype. I have found that most people I call
say my Skype connection is better than my land line connection.
If you want to be able to call virtually every regular telephone number
in the world you can purchase one of their virtual calling cards. Rates
vary according to location but most calls now are about US$ 2.2 cents
/ minute to most places. As you make calls your balance is displayed.
For best results you need a microphone and headphone. Special telephone
sets are now available just for Skype.
I have Skype on my laptop. When I travel and have an Internet connection
(most places) I make most of my calls with Skype, because it is less
expensive and very easy. Furthermore, I can call most toll free numbers
even when out of the country, something I cannot do with a landline.
Skype also has instant messaging. You can chat on line or you can send
messages which the recipient receives when they get back to their computer.
Skype use is growing. They claim some 144 million downloads. I just
looked and there were 2.7 million Skype users on line right now.
To call the HK Office
with Skype you can call Health Kinesiology at “HealthK”.
This rings only on Sharon’s computer and if she is not at her desk
she will not hear it. Be aware that because of our satellite Internet
connection there is some voice delay.
If you have been wondering, no, I do not receive anything for recommending
Skype. I just like to spread the word about especially good products
and services. However, I have been asking them to add a Fax function.
Perhaps if you also requested that....
